What has your faith transformed you from?

Well, It is March 3, 2010 and guess what I haven't blogged in a while! Perhaps it is because I allowed myself to get consumed by the roller coasters and rides of life. HEY!!! I am back! :-)

Today, I stopped by my parents house and picked up a book from my dad's library. The book is titled Sojourner Truth, A life, A symbol by Nell Irvin Painter. I just started the book but I was captivated by the following sentence;

"Without doubt, it was Truth's religious faith that transformed her from Isabella, a domestic servant, into Sojourner Truth, a hero for three centuries at least."

The aforementioned statement above lead me to the following question; What has my faith transformed me from and into? In some areas I can say it has transformed me from defeated into victorious. I may also add that is has transformed me from hateful to loving (on most days). However, if I had to be perfectly honest....my faith needs work! Without a doubt I could quote several faith scriptures ....why because I have learned several through living them for real! But instead I have decided to take a moment and wrestle with the question.

Sojourner Truth was a preacher, abolitionist, and feminist and her faith transformed her by name and occupation. In fact, her life is one that is still studied in the world of academia today. If Jesus interviewed you today and asked, "Daughter what has your faith transformed you from?" What do you think you might say?

God's Peace,
Kimberly

  1. Great post! I had to think on this for a few days. After some thought, I would say that my faith has transformed me from...
    timid to audacious,
    bound to free,
    surviving to thriving,
    student to teacher,
    hearer to proclaimer.

    Like you, I need more work--and I look forward to all of the transformation to come!

  2. This was a wonderful post! I feel like my faith is still transforming me from many things...but I guess one of the main things would be from being to proud to speak up for myself! Thanks for the question!!!
