What are you really seeking???
Happy July!!! Greetings Ladies!!!! I hope and pray that each of you are having a blessed and restful summer. Praise be to GOD, I must say that I have been using my summer to rest, rest, and rest. Every day, through God’s grace and mercy I am learning that it is okay to stop and truly embrace all of God’s greatness and wonder.
As many of you know I often take time to assess my progress or growth in all areas; spiritually, mentally, relationally, physically, financially, and mentally. During my mid-year assessment, I recognized that sometime my so-called assessment is really my way of avoiding the real work. You see in order for the aforementioned areas of my life to grow, the daily priority must be my relationship with Christ.
Matthew 6:33 states, But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness: and all these things shall be added unto you. In my time of rest I was reminded that the key to growth and progress is in my ability to work on my relationship with Christ first.
It is so easy to slide into the things of the world and consumed with things that are not God’s desires or will for your life. While my goals and projects are important …they are not the priority. The priority has to be my relationship with Christ.
The older I get the more I understand why God said be ye imitators of Christ. Christ was victorious because he did not compromise, minimize, and or neglect his relationship with the Father. He did not allow the job, laundry, exercise, budgets, dinner with family, etc. force Him to ever compromise His relationship and quality time with God.
During this time of rest and relaxing God is speaking to me about really getting my priorities in check and committing to spending valuable time with Him. You see the truth is when you seek God first all other things will be added to you and you will see true growth and progress become real in your life.
Questions to consider:
1. Does your daily to do list reflect what your priorities are in life?
2. Do you schedule time with God daily?
3. When was the last time you made a decision to rest with God and feast on His word in private and solitude?
4. What are you seeking after and does it provide the level of peace and joy that only God can give?
5. What are some things you can do differently or eliminate in order to put God
first?
OKAY ...if you are new to the blog... you can provided a comment or comments so that we can have discussion via email..... Any one have a thought they would like to share?
ReplyDeleteBeing Disobedient and manipulating my prayers is what my heart has sought after. I determine the level of intimacy that I want to have with HIM. I find myself being Disobedient with what He has already told me to do a year or so ago. I try to manipulate my conversation through prayers; saying Lord if I can hear you more clearly, I will go and do. I know good and well what he has told me, and what He has already said about the situation. The seed was sown on good grown and here I am, not the enemy, it's me that is questioning him. I realize that the Lord speaks all the time and wants to speak to me; I just have to be obedient and get into position to hear Him. That means going against the flesh and asking the Holy Spirit to help me overcome the demonic spirit of Laziness and to complete the work at hand. Finish your outdoor work and get your fields ready; after that, build your house! Proverbs 24:27 I thank his for His Grace and Mercy everyday, No Joke!
ReplyDeleteMy walk with Christ has become the most important part of my day. I set my clock for 4:30am so that I have that time just before the sun rises to spend with Christ. I must say that the time I spend with him everyday has taken our relationship to new heights. I thank our Pastor and his family for giving me the much needed insight into the Holy Spirit that shows me All things are possible through Christ Jesus!
ReplyDeleteThere is definitely something to be said about our ability to obey. I think it is important to remember that God did give us a choice. So serving God means making the choice to obey. Like sister Judy said ALL THINGS are possible through Christ Jesus and it is evidence that, that means obedience and nurturing our relationship with Him by staying committed. Thank you ladies for sharing....
ReplyDeleteGod Bless!!
Today I made the decision to start ordering my life and I will stop letting my life order me. I will sit down everyday with my bible and strengthen my relationship with my heavenly Father.
ReplyDeleteMatthew 6 speaks of Seeking FIRST the kingdom and everthing else will fall into place according to his will and promise...This is a step I am learning to take daily...and it's not easy...especially when I hear the advarsay say..Oh you thought I was going to leave u alone, lol! There are times when I fall and want to surrender, throw in the towel and times when my faith gets tested and just want to meet u in a parking lot at 3PM... I have decided to reads Books of the Bible for the summer...By reading the books of the BiBle I have learned that GOD Keep his promise, I just need to believe and learn to stand on his WORD.. I need to be still and know that GOD is GOD...So everyday I try to give GOD some time!! Seeking a closer walk with GOD!
